A western digital passport is not external memory. It is an external hard drive. No such thing as external memory. External hard drive's should never be plugged in all the time unless you were backing up.

Run a back up then unplug them. Viruses cannot manually jump from a computer onto an external hard drive and less files are backed up and copied over to it. I gave you the instructions to turn off auto play on the computer that you want to plug the external hard drive into and scan it.
